Classic 1980’s Metal Bad The Rods to release new album:
THE RODS To Release ‘Brotherhood Of Metal’ Album In June
Legendary U.S. metal band THE RODS will release a new album, “Brotherhood Of Metal”, on June 7 via SPV/Steamhammer.
Says THE RODS drummer Carl Canedy: “If you like the first song, then the odds are you’ll like the whole album. It’s balls-to-the-wall heavy metal, song after song. No ballads and nothing your mom will be humming.”
Spring 1980 saw the foundation of the group surrounding vocalist/guitarist David “Rock” Feinstein, a cousin of the unforgotten Ronnie James Dio and former member of their joint band, ELF. Six years and five albums later, THE RODS decided to go separate ways in 1986 and disappeared from the scene for more than twenty years, rising again like a phoenix from the ashes in 2011 with their outstanding comeback album “Vengeance”.
The three musicians — Feinstein, Canedy and bassist Garry Bordonaro — have recorded eleven songs for “Brotherhood Of Metal” (a twelfth track will be included as a bonus track on the vinyl edition). Recorded at the Barn Castle and the Nire Studio, engineered by Lonnie Park, Carl Canedy and Eric Chesek, the album features spectacular cover artwork courtesy of Belgian artist Eric Philippe and brings a breath of fresh air to the band’s classic metal.
The “Brotherhood Of Metal” album title reflects the musicians’ attitude to life, and what is more, it’s the general philosophy of this exceptional band.
Says Carl: “David, Garry and I are still close friends all these years later. We’re a band of brothers and proud that we’re heavier than ever and making great RODS music for the fans.”
“Brotherhood Of Metal” will be released as a CD digipak, 2LP gatefold (incl bonus track “Crank It Up (35 Years)”), as a digital download and via stream music services.

Venom are an English extreme metal band formed in 1978 in Newcastle upon Tyne. Coming to prominence towards the end of the new wave of British heavy metal, Venom’s first two albums—Welcome to Hell (1981) and Black Metal (1982)—are considered a major influence on thrash metal and extreme metal in general. Venom’s second album proved influential enough that its title was used as the name of the extreme metal subgenre of black metal. The band classic line-up trio of Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon recorded two further studio albums At War With Satan (1984) and Possessed (1985) and live album Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (1986). Often cited by bands such as Metallica, Behemoth, Celtic Frost and Mayhem as major influences, they are one of the most revered bands of their generation. Venom are still fronted by original singer/bassist Cronos and headline festivals all over the globe and continue to release new music. In Nomine Satanas is a celebration of the bands formative years, containing all the classic line-up albums and an album of previously unreleased demo songs that dates back to 1979 when the formed.

Metallica – “Helpings Hands” released this month is the new acoustic live album from Metallica and is a mix of acoustic versions of Metallica songs as well as acoustic cover songs of artists like Nazareth, Bob Seger and Deep Purple.
This is great live Metallica album and guaranteed to be a 9+ out of 10 for any Metallica fan. The record features great acoustic versions of Metallica songs like Nothing Else Matters, The Unforgiven and Bleeding Me.
The record also has alternate acoustic versions of songs like Disposable Hero’s which may not appeal to all fans which sound like a different version of the same song, there is a somewhat alternate version of The Four Horsemen which is a stand out track on this record.
The acoustic version of The Four Horsemen is probably one of the best songs on the album and gives the song a real mainstream feel to it with some alternate sounding sections.
This is a guaranteed favorite album in your Metallica music collection, get one today!

Will this lead to a Lars Ulrich solo album?
In a related article from 2016 Metallica’s former manager Jon “Jonny Z” Zazula told Metal Hammer magazine that Lars Ulrich was originally considered to be the frontman for Metallica.
“Lars and I planned a lot of stuff. But James wasn’t the most confident of singers. I don’t think he felt comfortable.
“At one point there was even talk of Lars becoming the frontman. For about five seconds.”
Is Metallica hinting at a Lars Ulrich solo album?

From www.earache.com :
Release Date: November 30, 2018
The term ‘legendary’ gets thrown around an awful lot these days. In this case however, the legacy of Misfits is undeniable, having transcended punk into popular culture, and when a band can be cited as an influence on names like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Green Day, Sum 41 and so many more, the term is simply unquestionable. Now their debut album, ‘Walk Among Us’, will be reissued on vinyl by Earache Records on November 30, with six different colours of vinyl available EXCLUSIVELY from this store.
Officially licensed from Warner Music, the audio for this vinyl is taken from the original master tapes, which have been supplied directly from Warner. Coming in a brand new sleeve variant, with a green logo and a pink sky, the vinyl will be pressed on 180g heavyweight vinyl, and will surely be considered the definitive vinyl edition of this punk classic.
For years, many long-time Earache fans have wondered what would be given the highly coveted MOSH666 catalog number. The answer is here, and it’s hard to think of a more fitting and appropriate album for this release.
As an added bonus, we have 1500 deluxe 12″ x 12″ art cards featuring ‘Cave Silhouette #2’, an alternate image that was considered for the original cover of “Walk Among Us”, taken by Eerie Von during the Cave Session in upstate New York, August 1981. Originally unused due to the low light and slightly out of focus shot, it has now been restored by Laura Jay for Eerie Von’s upcoming book of photography, ‘Misery Perfectum’. These art cards will be included for free with the first 1500 orders from our store!

Megadeth Beer Festival and “À Tout Le Monde” Beer:
From www.blabbermouth.net :
MEGADETH To Launch KEGADETH Metal Music And Craft Beer Festival
MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine was interviewed on the October 5-7 edition of Full Metal Jackie‘s nationally syndicated radio show. You can now listen to the chat using the Podbean widget below. A couple of excerpts follow.
On what MEGADETH has to take into consideration when planning its own festival event to coincide with the release of the band’s next album:
Mustaine: “Some of the things that we take into consideration when we do dates is, obviously, what’s the next show? Where do you go from here? An another question is who are you playing with, and what is that show going to mean? If it’s a festival, which is what the question was, the festivals sometimes have a life of their own and there’s a… I don’t know… a temperament is maybe the wrong word, but there’s just a vibe, a feeling, something about a festival that, if it’s a good one — like Hellfest in France — is remarkable. That festival [Hellfest] is bigger than any band that plays on it, and that’s what anybody who’s a festival promoter wants — to have a festival to be bigger than any band on it because then that means it’ll go on forever.
“We have thought about, when we do festivals, how do you bring the audience in to have fun? Well, we don’t really want anybody up onstage, but we would love to be able to have something backstage — you know, something where you can have people associate with the band, maybe play some songs, get some direct information from us, some feedback on their playing skills and stuff. And we thought what would be a great way to do that? Well, a cruise would be a great way. And we’re doing [our] first-ever West Coast cruise on next year with Norwegian [Cruise Line].”
On the upcoming Megacruise:
Mustaine: “It’s gonna start in Long Beach and we’re gonna cruise out to Catalina and then go down to Mexico and turn around, head back up to San Diego. And I think we’re gonna stop in San Diego. We may return up to Long Beach, but I think San Diego’s gonna be where the cruise is gonna end for us. We’ve got a lot of really great bands that we’ve planned. One I’m super excited about is ARMORED SAINT. I’ve always been a fan of ARMORED SAINT. Of course, they’re not headlining — there’s several other bands that are above them on the bill — but they’re there. And I like ARMORED SAINT a lot. I like the Sandoval brothers and love Joey [Vera]. So, I think it’s gonna be fun. And that’s what we wanted — we wanted something that people would stop thinking about, ‘How do we have the most successful this?’, and, ‘How do we make the most money that?’ Well, how about you treat the fans with dignity and respect and you give them their money’s worth, you know?”
On when someone would fully understand MEGADETH if he or she were to binge-listen to all the albums in order:
Mustaine: “I think that when the fans get to about [1992’s] ‘Countdown [To Extinction]’, they start to see… ‘Cause it wasn’t until a little bit after ‘Countdown’ where I started to get really explorative with my songwriting melody. I learned a lot about songwriting and a lot about the hook — setting the hook, how to pick the low-hanging fruit with clever lines: ‘What do you mean I’m not kind? I’m just not your kind’; and stuff like that. And, gosh, I’m looking at where we’re at right now with… The very first record was so aggressive and you know what that was? It was revenge and anger [over my exit from METALLICA]. When I started to get over the anger and started to have my own success and started to have people say, ‘Wow, you know what? This guy can actually play guitar,’ because with [METALLICA‘s] Lars [Ulrich] and James [Hetfield] and those guys going out of their way to say that I was temporary… I wasn’t temporary. I wouldn’t have been temporary if I hadn’t slugged James. And them saying I’m not a good guitar player. Anybody with two ears knows that I’m not bad — I’m a good guitar player. Now, I’m not the best guitar player in the world, and I never said that. So, at that point was when I started to not worry about what other people said and just start writing. And I believe during ‘Countdown’ was when I started to have some… started to feel some self-esteem, because your self-esteem and ego are two totally different things. Most musicians have raging egos and no self-esteem at all.”
On MEGADETH‘s plans for the coming months and next year:
Mustaine: “So, if I went chronologically down the list of everything that’s going on right now… We’re working on wrapping up the music [for the next MEGADETH album]. I’m working on a new band that [Mustaine‘s management company] Thrashville manages called DOWN TO RIDE. We’re working on their music. And they’re still trying to decide if that’s the name they’re gonna use or not. And we are working on the Megacruise. We’re working on Kegadeth, which is a metal music and craft beer festival that we created based around the [MEGADETH-branded] À Tout Le Monde beer. Then next year we hope to have a record out. This October 27th, we’ll be headlining Jakarta. We’re taking the holidays off, and we’ll be working on the new record. Next year, we start at around March. I’m gonna be doing a very special experience where I’m gonna be going out for a month and playing some concerts. So, after Kegadeth, we have something also next year. Of course, we have the experience starting in March, and then after that, we do a month worth of Kegadeth, and then we’ve got some dates in the summer. And then, in the fall again, we’re gonna do a camping plan with the Kegadeth festival and more Kegadeth dates and then, obviously, a MEGADETH tour to support record number 16.”
MEGADETH‘s upcoming effort will mark the group’s first release to feature drummer Dirk Verbeuren, who officially joined the band more than two years ago.
2016’s “Dystopia” was MEGADETH‘s first album with guitarist Kiko Loureiro, who was previously best known for his work with ANGRA.
